Carréducker at the Design Museum, Kensington, London
We are delighted to be part of the new DESIGN MUSEUM’s first permanent exhibition, Designer Maker User.
The exhibition looks at the development of modern design though the interconnected roles of the designer, maker and user. We were chosen for our design-lead approach to the highly skilled, traditional craft of West End shoemaking. Our installation features a pair of handsewn Derby boots, The Brunswick; the materials and tools we used in their making; and a film of their construction - the 200+ steps that go into crafting some of the finest shoes and boots in the world.
We are proud to champion one of the oldest crafts (welted construction dates back to the 16th century) in such a dynamic environment, alongside 100s of iconic pieces in the DESIGN MUSEUM’s collection.
