Collar colour – Black veg. tanned leather or Brown oak bark tanned leather

Colour of hardware – Brass or Nickel

Width of collar – 16mm or 25mm

Length of collar – measure the length of your dog’s existing collar from buckle bar to most used hole so that we can cut your collar to length ready for the class.

The Dog Collar:

The collar is saddle stitched for strength and has a leather keeper and a sturdy, British-made brass or nickel D-Ring and Buckle from Abbey England.

Class Description:

This class captures everything that we love about leather craft, just the right balance of tactile materials and technical difficulty, that will have you glowing with pride when you’re finished.

Through demonstration and guidance, we will show you how to:

Polish and finish the edges of the leather

Punch the holes for stitching

Make the keeper

How to fit the hardware

How to saddle stitch the collar

How to stamp your dog’s name in the collar

Materials:

All materials are provided.

Sustainability:

The leathers we use are from the Tempesti Tannery in Tuscany, Italy and from Bakers of Colyton in Devon, England:

Veg. tan leather is wonderfully tactile and supple

Leather is a byproduct, made from animal hides which would otherwise be destroyed

Veg. tanned leather is tanned using organic vegetable matter such as oak or mimosa bark; an environmentally-friendly process

Because the leather is a natural, organical material, the tone and depth of colour varies and will change with use and age, developing its own beautiful patina over time.
