The Belt Design:
The belt is cut from 4mm leather and the buckle from Abbey England is saddle stitched in place and a brass screw rivet fitted for detail and extra strength.
This class captures everything that we love about leather craft, just the right balance of tactile materials and technical difficulty, that will have you glowing with pride when you’re finished.
Through demonstration and guidance, we will show you how to:
Burnish the edges of the leather
Punch the holes for stitching
How to fit the buckle and screw rivet
How to saddle stitch the buckle in place
Shape the end and punch the belt holes
Polish and finish the belt
All materials are provided.
The leather is naturally tanned with organic vegetable matter (veg tanned) and comes from Italy; and the oak bark leather is naturally tanned at one of England’s oldest pit tanneries in Devon.
Naturally veg. tanned leather become more supple and develops a beautiful patina the more your wear and handle it; plus the belt is fully repairable, because if any stitching comes undone you’ll have the skills to fix it!
