On this leather work course you will learn to make a beautiful, Italian leather card case in chocolate brown Italian leather. It is perfectly sized for travel, business or bank cards with two external pockets and a central pocket for cards and notes. The edges are burnished and there are three sides of saddle stitch.

Course description

The course is taught by leather craftsman Frankey Pinnock  formerly of Bill Amberg Studio and bag maker Simpsons. You will start with a set of tools, materials and the pre-cut leather pieces.(Please note that we pre-cut the leather using press knives to give crisp, sharp edges for a great-looking, finished product).

Then through demonstration, trial and guidance you will learn:

  • How to prepare and finish the leather edges
  • How to cement the layers of leather together
  • How to punch the stitch holes and to set your work in a clam
  • How to use an awl and stitching needles
  • How to saddle stitch and to finish your work

We hope that this practical leather course and the comprehensive making notes supplied in class will set you up for your own saddle stitch projects in the future.

There’s no greater feeling than the satisfaction of making something yourself. Our courses offer the perfect opportunity with short evening, half-day and one-day leather work courses to choose from either for yourself, or as a gift using our gift cards.

All the materials needed for the leather work course are provided and aprons are available for your use, but please wear trousers so that you can use the stitching clam comfortably.
