The bristle brush is great for removing dust and dirt without damaging the leather; the soft, horsehair brush is for giving the leather a good buffing after the cream and polish have been applied; and the natural bone handled brush is for getting polish into hard-to-reach areas.

When it comes to the polish itself, Saphir is our chosen brand, because it makes some of the best shoe care products in the world. Its formulas have been created to nourish and clean leather using natural waxes and solvents and are free from harmful resins & silicones.

It’s all they’ll need to look after their shoes, apart from an atomiser to spray water for glacage – readily available from most chemists – and a polish cloth, which we prefer to make by recycling soft, old t-shirts rather than buying new.

We use all of these products ourselves in our workshop to shine our Carreducker handsewn shoes before they are delivered to a client and in our Carreducker shoemaking school; in fact we have a separate set of polish and brushes for neutral, brown, black and burgundy shoes!

• Shipping – We process and ship online orders once a week on a Friday. They are trackable and signed for via Royal Mail or Parcelforce. We’ll let you know what the tracking number is when we ship. Saphir is one of the best shoe care brands in the world, founded in 1920.

We use it to clean and nourish a pair of Carreducker handsewn shoes, before polishing. We also use it in our Carreducker shoe shine masterclasses. And if bespoke shoes come back scuffed it is excellent for recolouring leather with a matching colour cream.

We believe it’s best used every 10 – 12 weeks to clean off old polish and to ‘feed’ the leather followed, of course, by a fresh polish.

In the workshop, we have a polish set for each of the most popular shoe colours. Also, we offer Saphir Creme Surfine and Saphir Pate de Luxe in a selection of colours.
