We started The Journal as a continuation of our blog, which we originally launched in 2006 and ran until 2022.
The blog provided regular news from our studio, the ups and downs of setting up and running a bespoke shoemaking business together, and shared shoemaking tips and techniques with makers worldwide. It became a handy go-to for shoemakers keen to develop their skills.
We launched the blog at a time when social media and YouTube didn’t exist and when sharing our knowledge was frowned upon. Today, all that has changed, and makers are sharing their expertise and knowledge the world over.
The Journal offers a snapshot of news and events throughout the year here at 1.20 Oxo Tower Wharf in London, whilst the Film Library on our website, our YouTube channel and our shoe making and pattern making films offer a more immersive approach to learning about the world and the craft of handsewn shoemaking .
We hope that you enjoy it.
