Pods inspired by nature’s natural rhythms
DIMENSIONS: Diameter: 11cm approx.
MATERIAL: 1.8 – 2.2mm natural vegetable tanned leather from Badalassi Carlo, Horween and Tempesti tanneries, Tuscany.
Wet moulded, stretched and pinned; hand shaped and dried. Some pods feature saddle stitch detail in waxed polycotton thread. Trimmed by knife, sanded, burnished and waxed. The pods can be transformed into a bud vase or pen pot by placing a glass receptacle inside. Each includes a hand stitched leather covered weight to enable the pod to be displayed at a variety of angles.
TRACABILITY: Leather is a waste material, a by-product of the meat and dairy industry. These vessels are made from vegetable tanned leather, sourced from Tuscany, Italy – tanned using water and natural organic materials like mimosa, chestnut and oak bark – one of the most sustainable ways of tanning leather.
