One-to-one Norwegian Welt Shoe Making Course

  • Email Email to arrange dates

On this 6-day shoe making course you will learn the specialist Norwegian welted shoe construction which is used for strong, water-resistant footwear.

You will start with a comprehensive set of course notes and the shoe uppers, lasts, tools and materials that you need. Then we will guide you through hand lasting and then sewing the Norwegian welt.

Hand lasting is the stage of pulling the leather shoe upper over the last (the forms that the shoes are made on), where it is then secured in place with nails. It is one of the most important skills because a hand lasted shoe has a beautiful shape, exactly following the contours of the last.

We will then show you how to stitch through the upper and fold it out, before attaching a thin mid-sole.  Your shoes are then ready to be sent to a cobbler for the sole to be stitched on and the heel attached.

Simply choose:

  • Your UK shoe size – we have lasts in sizes 3 -13 including half sizes
  • A leather colour: Tan, Burgundy, Dark Brown or Black
  • A shoe style: Plain Derby, Plain Oxford, Toecap Derby, Toecap Oxford, or Full Brogue Oxford
  • To have blind or metal eyelets, a heel tab or counter and a toe medallion or no toe medallion

…then email us or call 020 78130093 to book a time to suit.

The fee for a tailored, 6-day Norwegian welt shoe making course is £1250.
